Turns out I love twisting my body into a pretzel. The more twists and contortions, the more satisfying. Well I do have one disclaimer: as long as I’m not balancing on one foot. The standing poses are killer, but the floor poses are gratifying, at least for me. There is one standing pose Kristi calls “splits in the air” and it’s really about that easy . . . and graceful. Stand on one foot while lifting the other leg behind you then raise opposite arm high, pointing towards the ceiling. Now, bend in half so that your body forms a capital T. I hates it.
But the sitting pose (can’t recall the name) where we bend one leg over the other, twist the opposite direction and put pressure on both knees is awesome! I can feel every vertebrae pop like bubble wrap all the way up my spine.
I don’t enjoy standing splits, either. I always get a cramp in the hip of my standing leg. Ouch. And I also love twists. I like the one where I lie on the floor and drag one knee across to the opposite side. It is quite delicious.
That IS a good one, Sarah.
